How do I keep the audience’s attention?

It is very important that you gain the attention of the audience at the beginning of your speech.  Once you have captured their attention, you must maintain it.  This can be accomplished by using voice characteristics such as rate of speech, loudness, pitch, and articulation.  You can also interject stories and humor that fits your style, ask questions, and continue to meet their needs.
